Gilbert Town is located in Maricopa County, within the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is the most populous incorporated town in the country and considered the "36th Best Place to Live" in the nation. Gilbert was incorporated in 1920. It was initially a farming community and known as the "Hay Capital of the World" from 1911 to 1920.

It is currently home to the nationally recognized Riparian Preserve and the Cosmo Dog Park, which was recently named dog park of the year.

Notable natives from Gilbert include L.A. Galaxy soccer player Alan Gordon and baseball player Phil Ortega.

When planning your wedding, keep in mind that Gilbert has a desert climate, with scorching temperatures in the summer months. Spring and early autumn can also be very hot. Early spring and winter are the most comfortable months for an outdoor wedding.
