Downey is located in Los Angeles County, California, 31 miles Southeast of downtown Los Angeles.  Downey known for being the birthplace of the Apollo space program.  Downey boasts a population of just over 112,000 residents.  It is also the birthplace of singer Karen Carpenter. Downey is also the home of the World's oldest McDonald's Restaurant. Immediately after opening in 1953, it became the standard for fast food franchises across the United States.  Employees wear 50's style uniforms with white shirts, bolo ties and paper hats.

Los Amigos Country Club is a popular wedding venue as is the Downey Wedding Chapel.  Both are great resources for wedding venues and reception venues.  Links and maps to both venues can be found below. Fall is an ideal time to host a garden wedding in Downey as the weather is somewhat less warm.  A summer wedding would be beautiful, but consider late afternoon or evening.
