Duarte City is in Los Angeles County and surrounded by the San Gabriel Mountains, Monrovia, and Azusa. The city is 6.7 square miles and was officially incorporated on August 22, 1957. The land was originally owned by Andres Duarte, but he had to sell most of it to pay off his debts. Over time the land was separated into individual lots.

Duarte is located on U.S. Route 66 which goes through the heart of the city. Every third weekend in September the city hosts the "Salute to Route 66" parade.

In your free time you can visit Pamela Park and enjoy the recreational facilities. Pamela Park also has a variety of events including concerts and movies in the park and the annual Battle of the Bands competition.
