Maywood is a small city in the southeast of Los Angeles County, California. At only a little over 1 square mile, it is the third smallest incorporated city in Los Angeles County. Maywood has a population of just over 27,000 people.  

On July 1, 2010, Maywood became the first California municipality to dismantle its police department, lay off all the city employees, with the exception of the city manager, attorney and elected officials, and to contract outside agencies to provide all its municipal service.  This was an unprecedented action for a California city.  The city now bills itself as the first American city to outsource all its city services.

Maywood's climate is rather moderate with summer temperature being in the 80's and temperatures in the winter hovering in the 50's.  August tends to be the warmest month of the year while December is generally the coldest.  February is the wettest month of the year, so if you are planning an outdoor wedding in Maywood, you will want to keep this in mind and plan accordingly.
