Norwalk City was founded in the 19th century. It is part of Los Angeles County and 17 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. Norwalk was first home to the Shoshonean Indian tribe before Spanish settlers came in the late 1760´s.

Norwalk has a unique local government in which 5 city council members are elected to a four year term every two years. They may serve an unlimited number of terms.
Norwalk has also served as a location for select scenes in a number of movies including The Karate Kid, Speed, The Postman Always Rings Twice, and Grease 2.

If you are on a budget and want to splurge on the reception, you can arrange for a civil ceremony at the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk headquarters in Norwalk. You can fill out the application online, go into the office, and have the marriage license issued on the same day. Los Angeles Wedding chapel also has a Norwalk location and will send someone to your home for an intimate, personalized ceremony.
Make sure you visit the Hargitt House and Sproul Museum. If you prefer the outdoors, Ramona or Holifield Parks are great places to get some fresh air.
