Signal Hill is 2.2 miles and completely surrounded by Long Beach. It is part of Los Angeles County.
On April 22, 1924, three years after oil was discovered in the area, the city was incorporated. Before the oil was found, Signal Hill was an agricultural area for fruits, flowers, and vegetables. The city is named after a 365 foot hill that rise above Long Beach. The Tongva Native Americans, who originally made the area their home, used the hill for signal fires.
Signal Hill was also used as a movie location by Balboa Studios between 1913 and 1923. Notable actors that worked in Signal Hill include Fatty Arbuckle and Buster Keaton.
Signal Hill has a variety of vendors to help you with your wedding planning. You can have an outdoor ceremony overlooking the city at Hilltop Park and find everything you need to make your wedding reception elegant and beautiful at Stephanie's Linens and More. They have wedding napkins and adorned napkin holders, chair covers, plates, and a multitude of other necessities.
Even if you choose another venue, Hilltop Park is worth a visit. It is at the top of the hill for which Signal Hill is named. There are incredible views, telescopes, artwork, and a mist tower.
