Irvine is a city that is located in Orange County, California. This planned suburban city is has been named as the 4^th best place to live in America by Money Magazine, and Businessweek also listed it as the 5^th best city in America. Irvine covers an area of about 66.4 square miles.

Irvine originally belonged to the Gabrielino people. James Irvine owned the land in 1878, and it was then known for ranching and later fruit farming. The passage of the Santa Fe railroad brought development to the area. There was a station named Myford, which was the name given to the town that sprung up from the station. But the name was later changed to Irvine. The city was incorporated in 1971.
