Laguna Hills is located in Orange County. It is named after Laguna Canyon and Laguna Beach. The city is situated on land that was part of the Rancho Niguel land grant.

Lewis Moulton purchased Rancho Niguel from Don Juan Avila in 1894 and used it to raise sheep and cattle. In the 1960's, the Moulton Ranch was divided and one of the portions became Laguna Hills. The city was incorporated on December 20, 1991. 

Laguna Hills is a predominately white community, but also has a sizable Hispanic population. Notable natives and residents include cartoonist George Sixta, guitarist Zachy Vengeance, and Korn band member Fieldy.
