Laguna Woods, which was incorporated on March 24, 1999, is located in Orange County. It is surrounded by Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach, and Crystal Cove State Park. The area was originally part of the Moulton Ranch.

It is primarily a retirement community, with the average age of residents being 78 years old. A senior citizen gated community, known as Laguna Woods Village, makes up 90% of the city. It was designed to provide active seniors a culturally diverse, safe, and beautiful environment.

The city incorporated in order to stop development of an airport within its borders.

In your free time you can visit the Equestrian Center for guided trail rides, horseshoe pits, and cookouts.  The community also has facilities with tennis courts and swimming pools.
