Lake Forest City is located in Orange County. It was incorporated on December 20, 1991 and is ranked one of the safest cities in the United States.

The city is named after two man-made lakes that are in the center of town. "Forest" comes from the nearby groves of Eucalyptus trees that were planted in the 1900's by Dwight Whiting. Over the years, a residential community has been developed in and around the grove.

Lake Forest is the headquarters for Oakley, Inc., Kaiser Aluminum, Johnny Rockets, Panasonic Avionics, Del Taco, and numerous other businesses. It is also home to Saddleback, the eighth largest church in the United States.

Notable natives and residents include The Smashing Pumpkins bassist Ginger Reyes and Olympic volleyball champion Elaine Youngs.
