Moreno Valley is a city in Riverside County, California.  It was incorporated in 1984 and it covers a total area of about 51.4 square miles.

Americans started to settle in Moreno Valley in 1850. Moreno is Spanish for Brown, and the area is named after Frank Brown, who had a land and water company that supplied the town with water. The opening of March Field by the US Air Force is one of the factors that led to the growth of the town.

Presently, the city has a high number of Latinos, who account for more than half of the city’s population. It also has a high number of African Americans.

There are several notable residents of this city and they include professional baseball player Bobby Kielty and professional Arena Football player DeNique Ford.
