Riverside is a city that is located in Riverside County, California with a population of approximately 304,000 residents.  It is also the county seat of Riverside County.  It is located about 60 miles east of Los Angeles and is the 59th most populated city in the United States.   The city is 81.4 square miles in size.  

The city of Riverside was founded in the early 1870's.  It is considered the birthplace of the citrus industry in California.  Riverside is home to the Mission Inn and Riverside National Cemetery.  The Mission Inn is the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States.  

The city is well known for its citrus industry which began in about 1871 when the first navel orange tree seedlings were sent from Brazil and planted in Riverside.  The trees were from Bahia, Brazil and while they did not fare well in Florida, they thrived in the Southern California climate.  By 1882, there were over a half million citrus trees in California and almost half of those could be found in Riverside.
