Chino is a city that is located in San Bernardino County, California with a population of roughly 78,000 residents.   The city is 29.7 square miles in total area.

Originally the land that is now Chino was granted to the Lugo/Williams family by the Mexican government.  During the time of the California Gold Rush, the family's rancho was a popular stop for travelers and during the gold mining, coal was discovered on the land.  

The next owner of the Rancho was Richard Gird and starting in 1887, the land was divided and laid out to become the "Town of Chino" which was incorporated as a city in 1910.  

From the 1950's through the 1980's the dairy industry flourished in Chino because of the dairy-friendly zoning.  Because of the large, highly efficient diaries, Chino became the largest milk producing community in California which was also the largest milk producing state in the US.
