Upland is a city that is located in San Bernardino County, California. This city was incorporated in 1906 and covers an area of about 15.6 square miles.

Before its incorporation in 1906, Upland was known as North Ontario, and it was part of Ontario City. It broke away in 1906 and it subsequently changed its name to Upland. It was an agricultural town known for its fruits especially grape and citrus fruits.

Upland has grown to become a world renowned skating destination. People travel from all over the world to skate in the city’s ‘badlands’, so nicknamed because of the city’s geographical location. Many top skaters such as Tony Hawks have skated there, and Upland has been featured in many television shows, magazines and skateboard videos.

There are several notable residents of Upland, and they include US soccer national team captain Carlos Bocanegra, who plays for Racing de Santander on loan from Rangers. There is also female professional golfer Sydnee Michaels.
