Sunnyvale is a city that is located in Santa Clara County, California. It borders Santa Clara to the East, Mountain View to the West, Los Altos to the Southwest and Cupertino to the South. It covers an area of approximately 22.7 square miles and is one of the cities that comprise the Silicon Valley.

The Spanish first arrived in Sunnyvale in 1770. It was then known for fruit farming. However, during World War II, it started to make steam engines, rocket launchers as well as naval guns to aid the war. Lockheed moved its headquarters to Sunnyvale in 1956.

Sunnyvale is a safe city - actually one of the safest cities in America, and it is home to many technology companies such as Yahoo, Palm, Inc., NetApp, Ariba and Spansion just to name a few. Apart from Lockheed Martin, there are also other aerospace and defense companies which have a presence there.

Some of the notable residents include Steve Wozniak, who grew up in Sunnyvale and Nobel Laureate Andrew Fire who also grew up in Sunnyvale.
