Kenmore City

Kenmore, which is the northernmost city along Lake Washington, is located in King County. It is home to the largest commercial seaplane air facility in the United States. Kenmore incorporated on August 31, 1998.

The city is named after the Scottish village of Kenmore. It was established in 1901 by the McMasters family, who opened a shingle mill by Lake Washington. Kenmore had a post office and school by 1903.

During the early years, Kenmore was accessed primarily by boat. It was considered a country retreat and had two nudist colonies during the 1920's. The city was a center for drinking during prohibition since it was isolated enough for the Department of Revenue officers to ignore.
