Kent is a city located in King County, Washington. Covering an area of approximately 28.3 square miles, Kent borders Renton and Tukwila to the North, Auburn and Federal Way to the South, Covington to the East and Federal Way, Des Moines and SeaTac to the West. It is named after Kent County in England.

The area that is present day Kent was first settled by Europeans in the 1860s. Back then, it was called Titusville and was known as a hops production town. As aphids invaded the hops and led to their decline, the town turned to dairy farming as the main income source.

Like many other cities in the US, Kent grew rapidly after World War II. Boeing built a plant in Kent and other technology and aerospace companies followed suit. Presently, the city is home to the 4^th biggest distribution and manufacturing area in America. Kent is also the 3^rd largest city in King County as well as the 6^th largest in the state of Washington.

There are several notable people either residing in or are natives of Kent. They include professional bowler Earl Anthony, professional soccer player Cam Weaver as well as Melrose Place actor Josie Bissett.
