Renton is a city located in King County, Washington. The city is just 11 miles to the Southeast of downtown Seattle, and it covers an area of about 22.3 square miles. Renton borders Tukwila to the West, Seattle to the Northwest, Newcastle to the North and Issaquah to the East.

Europeans first settled in Renton in the 1860s. The economy was then based on timber exports, coal mining and production of clay. Incorporated in 1906, the city experienced growth during World War II when Boeing built a factory to build the B-29 Superfortress.

The city has grown in leaps and bounds to become the 4^th largest city in King County. It is also the 8^th largest city in the state of Washington. Renton is now a manufacturing city with various major industries and corporations in operation there. They include Boeing and Paccar just to name a few of them.

There are several notable residents of Renton, and they include but are certainly not limited to Ryan Malgarini of Gary Unmarried and Clint Eastwood, who used to work as a lifeguard at Kennydale beach in 1949/50.
