Snoqualmie City

Snoqualmie is situated in the mountains of King County. The city's name originates from a Native American word which means "ferocious people". The early years of Snoqualmie were filled with tensions between settlers and the native people.

Jeremiah Borst, who arrived in 1858, is considered one of the most successful early pioneers. He bought a large portion of land in Snoqualmie with his profits from apple and pig sales.

The land was originally used for agriculture and logging. The first mill was established in 1872 by the mouth of Tokul Creek. There were 12 other logging businesses along the Snoqualmie River within 5 years.
