Mens Wedding Bands

Often times couples find the process of choosing the grooms wedding band a bit daunting.  The terminology is like a foreign language and the multitude of styles and metals make it almost impossible to know where to begin or what type of band to choose.  While this may not be as big of a task as shopping for wedding gowns or choosing the bridesmaids dresses, it is nonetheless, important.

When looking for men's wedding bands, it is important to know what to look for. Remember, this is a ring the man will be wearing for a very long time. Therefore, it is very important to find a ring that suits his personality, but also one that is appropriate for his lifestyle and is comfortable to wear yet fits into the budget.

It would be wonderful if there were a magic formula to help you find the perfect wedding band, but unfortunately that is just not the case. However, here is a bit of advice to help you through the process of shopping for mens wedding bands.

Find a band that is right for your lifestyle.  You need to consider how your lifestyle will affect your ring.  This will play a huge part in selecting the appropriate wedding band.  Are there any special requirements if you plan to wear your ring while at work.  If you are a mechanic or work with any type of machinery you may need to consider a ring that would be easy to cut off your finger in case of an emergency.  Also, will your work possibly damage your ring? If this is the case, you would want to consider a ring that can stand up to that type of wear and tear such as a titanium wedding band.  If you really want a band made of a softer metal (such as gold or silver), you might want to consider wearing it on a chain around your neck while working.  Just make sure the design of the ring is suitable to be worn on a chain.

Choose a ring that fits your personality.  Are you a simple kind of guy or do you prefer something bold and unique?  You will most likely be wearing your wedding band daily and with many different types of attire.  You should choose a wedding band that say "you."  If you don't generally have a lot of flair in the clothing you wear, you will probably want to choose a more simple wedding band. However, if you are a technology junkie or just like fresh and modern designs, you might want to look into something with a bit more of an edge.

Consider the comfort of the ring.  Comfort is a concern for many men as they have never worn a ring before.  However, your wedding band needn't be uncomfortable.  If you choose a ring with gently curved edges, these tend to be more comfortable.  There are also "comfort curve" rings that have a curve on the inside of the ring.  With these rings, you can still choose a flat style ring, but have the comfort curve on the inside. The width of your wedding band is also important for comfort.  Most men choose rings with a width of between 5 mm and 7 mm with the vast majority being 6 mm and 7 mm.  Do keep in mind, however, that if you choose a wider ring, you may need a bit larger size.

Choose the metal that is right for you.  There are quite a few different metals to choose from when shopping for your wedding band. These are gold, silver, platinum, titanium and tungsten.  Consider the qualities and cost of each before you make your choice.

There are other factors to consider, but most of these are a matter of taste and preference.  In the end, choose wisely as you will be wearing your wedding band for the rest of your life.
