Contra Costa County, which is comprised of 19 cities and numerous towns, has plenty of resources to help you find all the essentials on your wedding checklist, whether you are looking for the perfect wedding gown, a bakery for wedding cakes, or affordable wedding invitations.

Major shopping centers include Hilltop Mall in Richmond, Sun Valley Mall in Concord, Blackhawk Plaza in Danville, Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, and downtown Pleasant Hill, which has an eclectic blend of restaurants and stores. 

Contra Costa County has a well-developed public transportation system, including Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), which connects the San Francisco Peninsula, Tri-Delta Transit, which serves Eastern Contra Costa County, WestCAT, which serves the west part of the county, and Golden Gate Transit, which provides bus service to San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma counties. Contra Costa County is also home to both Byron Airport and Buchanan Field Airport.

Major attractions in Contra Costa County include John Muir National Historic Site and Briones Regional Park, Rosie the Riveter WWII Homefront National Historic Park, Prewett Family Waterpark, Borges Ranch, and the natural landmark of Mount Diablo.

The county is one of the nine counties in the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area, so you and your wedding guests will also be in close proximity the other counties' major attractions. 

If you are an outdoor lover, Contra Costa County has numerous parks and open spaces for you to explore, such as Mount Diablo State Park, the Diablo Foothills, and Howe Homestead Park. The county has a relatively mild climate year-round, with approximately 260 sunny days annually, so it is the perfect area to plan for an outdoor wedding.

In Contra Costa County, after you apply for your marriage license, there isn't a waiting period before it becomes valid, but remember it must be returned to the Recorder's office in the county seat of Martinez no more than 10 days after your wedding.
