Kern County

Kern County, which spans the Central California Valley from the Coast Ranges, to the Sierra Nevada to the Mojave Desert, is the 11th most populous county in the state and has plenty of resources to help you with the wedding planning process.

Major cities and towns in Kern County include the county seat, Bakersfield, Kern Hills, Maricopa, Frazier Park, Glennville, Buttonwillow, Pine Mountain Club, and Wofford Heights. 

Kern County is home to Fort Tejon State Historic Park, Red Rock Canyon State Park, Tule Elk State Reserve, Sequoia National Forest, and Los Padres National Forest.

With its diverse terrain, Kern County has numerous locations for exotic and unique engagement and wedding photographs, and its state and national parks are popular locations for weddings and for outdoor lovers and adventurers from around the world.

Kern County has a variety of wedding venues, from luxury hotels, to wineries and ranches. Some popular venues include Kern Grand Oaks Ranch in Tehachapi, the Bakersfield Event Center, Wonder Valley Ranch Resort, The Randall House, and Springville Ranch. 

If you need some time indoors, Kern County has quite a few museums you can tour, including the Bakersfield Museum of Art, Kern Valley Museum, Tehachapi Museum, West Kern Oil Museum, the Buena Vista Museum of Natural History, and Maturango Museum. 

Bakersfield has some great shopping venues where you will be able to find the essentials on your wedding checklist such as couture bridal gowns, wedding invitations, and wedding favors. Make sure you check out Valley Plaza Mall, the Marketplace, and the boutiques on the Northwest Promenade. 

Kern County is home to several small airports, including the international airport of Meadows Field in Bakersfield.

The county is also served by Kern Regional Transit, which provides countywide inter-city bus service, Orange Belt Stages buses and Greyhound, and Amtrack trains, so you and your wedding guests will be able to easily explore the area.
