In 1850, when California became a state, Sacramento County was one of the original counties.  It was named for the Sacramento River, which forms the western border of the county.  The river was named by Gabriel Moraga, a Spanish cavalry officer, for the Santisimo Sacramento which refers to the Catholic Eucharist.

An interesting fact is that a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, Alexander Hamilton Willard, is buried in the old Franklin Cemetery.

If you are considering a wedding in Sacramento County, there are many different areas and venues to choose from.  Whether the tastes of the bride and groom are eclectic or elegant, there is an area and/or a venue to suit every couple.  You can find venues from lavender farms to wineries to the typical country club.

Of course, when searching for a wedding venue, it is always a good idea to have your vision in mind along with a budget and a pretty good handle on how many guests you are expecting.  This is NOT the number of invitations you will or have sent out.  This is the number of guests you actually expect to attend your wedding.  Once you have these things, it is MUCH easier to narrow down your choice of wedding venue.

There are so many things to consider when you beginning planning your wedding. From wedding flowers to bridesmaids dresses to caterers and all these things should be factored into your choice for the perfect location to host your wedding.  Arm yourself with your vision of what the wedding will look like, then go searching for your perfect spot.  Of course, having a budget and number of guests will also narrow down your choices.

If all goes well (and it should with a little bit of planning on your part), you should be able to find a venue that will meet all your criteria for the perfect wedding day.
