Boulder County

Boulder County, which is the sixth most populous county in the state of Colorado, is a beautiful place for a wedding and a popular destination for nature lovers, as it has over 35,000 acres of open spaces available to the public.

Major cities and communities in Boulder County include Boulder, which is the county seat, Jamestown, Lafayette, Louisville, Lyons, Nederland, Ward, Eldora, Gold Hill, and parts of Erie, Longmont, and Superior.

Boulder County is the perfect place for rustic weddings, and you'll definitely want to take advantage of the numerous picnic shelters, hiking trails, scenic views, and other outdoor attractions.

Remember, even though Special Use and Group Use Permits are free, you must apply for one if you're planning on hosting an event with 25 people or more at a park or open space.

Some of Boulder County's major parks include Boulder Valley Ranch, Heil Valley Ranch, Rabbit Mountain, Walker Ranch, the Betasso Preserve, the Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm, Eldorado Canyon State Park, and Arapaho National Forest, just to name a few.

The city of Boulder was recently named the "#1 Sports Town in America" by Outside Magazine, but it still has plenty of places where you can shop—both in it and in the surrounding communities—so you will be able to easily find the essentials on your wedding checklist.

Major shopping venues include historic Downtown Boulder at the Pearl Street Mall, The Hill shopping district, Twenty Ninth Street, The Village in Boulder, Lafayette Collectibles and Flea Market, and the shops in downtown Lyons.

Boulder County is home to a number of award-winning breweries, distilleries and wineries, so if you're planning an extended wedding weekend in the area, make sure you take a break to visit some of them, such as the Avery Brewing Company, Augustina's Winery, or the Crystal Springs Brewing Company.

If you have time, you can also see a concert by the Boulder Symphony Orchestra, see the exhibits at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art or the Leanin' Tree Museum & Sculpture Garden of Western Art, or attend one of the area's annual festivals, like A Taste of Boulder Dining Tour.
