Lake County, which is Indiana's second most populous county, contains a mix of city, country, and suburban areas and has some unique resources to help you with the wedding planning process.
Major cities and towns in Lake County include the county seat of Crown Point, East Chicago, Gary, Hammond, Lake Station, Hobart, Whiting, Cedar Lake, Munster, New Chicago, St. John, and Winfield.
During the warmer summer months, Lake County is the perfect place for affordable beach weddings, as it is home to part of the Indiana Dunes and the beaches of Hammond Lakefront Beach/Hammond Marina Beach, Lake Street Beach, Lemon Lake, Whihala Beach, and Wells Street Beach.
The county is also home to some beautiful parks, which offer plenty of forested areas where you can take engagement and wedding photographs.

Lake County has numerous museums and historical attractions, so make sure you take some time to enjoy everything that the area has to offer.
To start, you can visit the John Dillinger Museum, Lake of the Red Cedars Museum, Griffith Historical Park and Railroad Museum, and DC's Country Junction, which is home to one of the oldest and largest country dance halls.
You can also attend one of Lake County's annual events, such as South Shore Air Show, A Christmas Story, and Pierogi Fest, or take a day trip to downtown Chicago, which is approximately 30 minutes away.
