As the largest county in Indiana, Marion County has plenty of resources to help make the wedding planning process go smoothly. The county seat, Indianapolis, is Indiana's largest city, the state's capital, and consolidated with Marion County through Unigov. 

Marion County is home to Indianapolis International Airport, and there are also a variety of transportation services available, from limousines, to bus lines, to private party buses, so you and your wedding guests will be able to easily get around. 

Major cities, municipalities, and townships in Marion County include Warren Park, West Newton, Meridian, Spring Hill, Decatur, Franklin, Warren, Homecroft, and Pike.

Marion County has some great shopping venues where you will be able to find everything on your wedding checklist, from wedding flowers, to couture bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses, to delicious wedding cakes.

Make sure you spend a day in downtown Indianapolis, which has over 200 stores. Other popular shopping destinations in Marion County include Circle Center Mall, Castleton Square Mall, The Fashion Mall at Keystone, the boutiques at Clay Terrace and Zionsville, and the antique shops at Fountain Square. 

If you need some fresh air or want some beautiful scenery for your engagement and wedding photographs, Marion County has great outdoor parks and gardens, including the Garfield Conservatory and Sunken Gardens, which is one of the county's popular wedding venues, White River Gardens, Eagle Creek Park, which is the sixth largest city park in the United States, Monon Trail, and Fort Harrison State Park.

Marion County also has major museums, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, and it is home to major sports teams, including the Indianapolis Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts. 

When planning your Marion County wedding, keep in mind that the winter seasons are usually very cold, with an average low in January of 18 degrees Fahrenheit, so plan your activities and wardrobe accordingly.
