Polk County, Iowa, which was named after the 11th president of the United States, is one of the five counties that make up the Des Moines-West Des Moines Statistical Area, and we found plenty of resources to help you plan the wedding of your dreams.

Major cities in Polk County include Des Moines, which is both the state capital and the county seat, Alleman, Altoona, Carlisle, Clive, Polk City, West Des Moines, Windsor Heights, and Johnston.

Polk County also has a wide variety of shopping venues, including traditional shopping malls and plazas, unique family-owned shops, and specialty stores, so you will be able to easily find the essentials on your wedding checklist.

Some popular places to shop in Polk County include Jordan Creek Town Center, the Historic East Village, Valley West Mall, Historic Valley Junction, Merle Hay Mall, West Glen Town Center, and Southridge Mall, just to name a few.

Polk County has some interesting things for you to do in your free time, so make sure you take a break from the wedding planning process to explore the area.

To start, you can take the Public Art in the City walking tour, visit popular museums, such as Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa Gold Star Military Museum, or the State Historical Museum of Iowa, or attend one of region's annual festivals, such as 80/35 Music Festival or Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival.

You could also spend a day at one of Polk County's breweries, such as the Confluence Brewing Company, or see a concert by the Des Moines Symphony.
