Major cities in Johnson County include the county seat of Olathe, Overland Park, which is its most populous city, Shawnee, Merriam, Roeland Park, Bonner Springs, Mission Woods, Spring Hill, De Soto, and Prairie Village.

Even though Johnson County is considered part of the Kansas City metropolitan area, most of it is suburban, and as such, there are numerous parks where you can take engagement and wedding photographs.

Major parks in Johnson County include Antioch Park in Merriam, Ernie Miller Park and Heritage Park in Olathe, Kill Creek Park, Mill Creek Streamway Park, Shawnee Mission Park, Sunflower Nature Park in Eudora, and Thomas S. Stroll Memorial Park.

Other popular locations in Johnson County for engagement and wedding photographs include The Helen Cuddy Rose Garden, Xeriscape Gardens, and The Antioch Park Memorial Arboretum. 

Johnson County has some premier wedding venues either at or surrounding the parks, including Mildale Farm in Edgerton, TimberRidge Adventure Center in Olathe, and Ernie Miller Park & Nature Center. Also, both Antioch Park and Heritage Park have shelters that are available to rent for weddings. 

In 2008, three cities in Johnson County were placed by CNN/Money and Money magazine on the list of "100 Best Cities to Live in the United States." Part of the reason might have been the county's excellent shopping venues, where you will be able to easily find everything on your wedding checklist.

Some popular shopping venues include Rosana Square, College Metcalf Plaza, Corinth Square in Prairie Village, Historic Downtown Overland Park, Hawthorne Plaza, Oak Park Mall, and Overland Pointe Marketplace, just to name a few. 

Johnson County has some great museums and points of interest, so make sure you save some time to enjoy the area. To start, you can tour the Johnson County Museum, The 1950s All-Electric House, and Lanesfield Historic Site.
