Massachusetts, technically the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is a state located in the northeastern region of the United States with a population of roughly 6,600,000 residents which makes it the 14th most populated state in the US.  However, it is the 7th smallest state in size with an area of 10,555 square miles.  It is also the 3rd most densely populated state in the US.

Roughly two-thirds of the entire population of Massachusetts lives in the Greater Boston area which is mostly urban or suburban.  Massachusetts is the most populated of all of the six New England states.

Massachusetts has played a significant role in our history.  In 1620, passengers of the Mayflower, the Pilgrims, founded the first colony in Plymouth.  Massachusetts is also home to Harvard University which was founded in 1636.  Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the US.

Originally, Massachusetts was dependent on agriculture, fishing and trade.  However, during the Industrial Revolution, the economy turned to manufacturing.  In the 20th century, the economy went from manufacturing to services and now, in the 21st century, it is a leader in high technology, health care technology, financial services and higher education.

Massachusetts has four distinct seasons. Therefore, it is perfect for a couple wanting a specific seasonal wedding.  You can sail into the sunset on a harbor cruise during the summer or you can have your wedding during the winter with the backdrop of a castle set against a winter wonderland of snow.  Of course, you can always have a beautiful beach wedding in the late spring or cruise through the fall foliage on a horse drawn carriage during autumn.  Each season offers beautiful options and locations for your perfect wedding day.

Whether your looking for a beautiful and seasonal outdoor wedding or you are wanting a lavish, 300 guest wedding at one of Massachusetts' gorgeous resorts, you will be sure to find everything you need from wedding gowns to Massachusetts wedding photographers to help you have the very best wedding day you can possibly imagine.
