Whether you are a native or are one of hundreds of couples planning destination weddings, Minnesota is a wonderful state to consider.  As the 32nd state that was admitted to the Union on May 12, 1858, Minnesota is knows as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes."  The ample amount of water along with parks, wilderness areas and forests make the state a great destination for couples that are adventurous and/or seeking a great spot for an outdoor wedding.

Minnesota is the 12th largest and 21st most populated of the United States. Almost 60% of the residents live in the St. Paul area which is the capital of the state.  St. Paul itself is an excellent destination for a wedding.  There are many different types of venues available that will suit just about any couple's taste.

If you are considering an indoor wedding in the St. Paul area, the Minnesota History Center offers a beautiful and unique venue complete with onsite caterer and event coordinator.  The facility also has outdoor lawn and courtyard areas if you choose to host an outdoor wedding.

For the couple on a budget there are many state parks in Minnesota that offer facilities that can be rented to host your wedding ceremony and reception. Most of these facilities are available year round and can be reserved up to 18 months in advance.  With a little bit of creativity and possibly the help of a wedding planner, you can definitely pull off a beautiful yet inexpensive wedding by utilizing the facilities of the Minnesota State Parks.

Minnesota has an average of 195 days of sunshine per year and an average of 97 days per year with some measurable precipitation (snow or rain).  You will need to keep these factors in mind when planning an outdoor wedding in Minnesota.  However, Minnesota would be a good choice of location for a summer wedding as the average high temperature in July is on 82 degrees.
