Washoe County, which is situated in the northwest corner of Nevada, is a beautiful place for an extended wedding weekend, as it features incredible views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities.

Major cities and census-designated places in Washoe County include the county seat of Reno, Sparks, Incline Village, Cold Springs, Empire, Crystal Bay, Golden Valley, Sun Valley, and Wadsworth.

While the climate in Washoe County is relatively mild, you will still experience all four seasons. However, the region has very low humidity and rainfall, and with approximately 300 sunny days annually, you will most likely have beautiful weather for your wedding day.

Washoe County is home to several nationally protected areas, including Anaho Island National Wildlife Refuge, part of Toiyabe National Forest, and part of Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge.

Incline Village, which is located in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, features stunning views of Lake Tahoe and offers opportunities for skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, making it a popular place for destination weddings.

The county seat, Reno, is another hot spot for weddings, as it features chapels open 24-7, plenty of entertainment and fine-dining, and easy access to marriage licenses.

Washoe County has plenty of shopping venues, from traditional shopping malls and plazas, to one-of-a-kind boutiques, specialty stores, and antique malls, so you will be able to easily find everything on your wedding checklist.

Popular shopping venues include The Outlets at Legends Sparks Nevada, The Summit, Meadowood Mall, the Truckee River Arts District, Mayberry Landing, and Incline Village Shopping Center, just to name a few.

Washoe County has plenty of activities and attractions to keep you entertained, so make sure you take a break from the wedding planning process to enjoy everything that it has to offer.

To start, you can relax at one of the numerous casinos in Reno or Sparks, go sailing on Lake Tahoe, enjoy Reno's vibrant nightlife, or attend one of the region's annual events, such as the Great Eldorado BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival.
