Considered one of the Mountain States and located in the southwestern United States, New Mexico isn't called "The Land of Enchantment" for no reason.  As the 5th largest state in the U.S., New Mexico is home to a colorful Wild West past, ancient native culture, unique UFO lore and some of the most beautiful and dramatic scenery in the United States.  What better place could there be for destination weddings?

When planning a wedding in New Mexico, your first thought may not be of a ski lodge.  However, there are many ski resorts and lodges in New Mexico that can host your wedding and reception.  The Bavarian Lodge & Restaurant which is located at the base of the Taos ski valley is one of the many ski lodge venues available to host your wedding.  What better place to plan a fun-filled wedding weekend than at a ski lodge?

Another great spot to host a wedding weekend is the Carlsbad Caverns National Park.  You will need a Special Use Permit to host your wedding in the park, but with the beautiful scenery and views, any additional paperwork involved will be well worth the work.  You and your guests can tour the caves and you can even spend your honeymoon camping if you are the sort of couple that enjoys tent camping as RV and vehicle camping is not permitted.  

Another unique spot for a wedding is on the shimmering dunes of the White Sands National Monument.  You will need a special use permit which will require an application as well as an application fee.  The application takes about 4 business days to process at which time you will be given the information on whether it was approved and, if so, the steps necessary to secure your special use permit.
