Suffolk County

Suffolk County is a county that is located in the state of New York with a population of approximately 1,500,000 residents.  Suffolk is the easternmost county in New York. Suffolk was named after the county in England which is where its early settlers were from.  Of the four counties in Long Island, it is the largest and the county seat is Riverhead.

Suffolk County has an area of 2,373 square miles and is surrounded on three sides by water.  It was one of the original 12 counties of New York which were created in 1683.

Suffolk County has more lighthouses than any other county in the United States.  The county originally had 26 lighthouses and 15 are still standing today.  Of the 15 remaining lighthouses, 8 are in Southold Township which is more than any other township in the US.  This alone makes Suffolk County an excellent choice as a wedding location.  

Couples wishing to plan a wedding in Suffolk County have many different options.  You can have an over the top and lavish affair at Windows on the Lake or Oheka Castle or plan an intimate outdoor wedding at one of the many state parks that are in Suffolk County.  With Suffolk being the largest county in Long Island, you will be able to find every type of wedding resource you can imagine from wedding gowns to the smallest wedding favors and accessories.  There is surely something for every couple and every style of wedding.
