Allegheny County has the second largest population of all the counties in Pennsylvania, with numerous resources to help you make your wedding day everything you've always dreamed of.
The county is serviced by The Port Authority of Allegheny County, which is the 14th largest public transportation system in the United States and will allow you and your wedding guests to explore the area with ease.
Pittsburgh, which is the seat of the county, has been recognized for its initiative in the "Rails to Trails" program, which turns old railroad tracks into recreational trails for hiking. In addition to the trails, you and your wedding guests will be able to enjoy activities such as fishing and hunting, or boating and jet skiing in Point State Park.
If you want a natural setting for your wedding photographs, Allegheny County has over 12,000 acres of parkland. During your free time, you can go ice skating, enjoy summer concerts Hartwood, go fishing at Deer Lakes Park, or swim in the wave pool at Settlers Cabin.
If you prefer the indoors, you can visit the downtown Pittsburgh Cultural District, which is home to the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, the Pittsburgh Opera, Civic Light Opera, and the Pittsburgh Symphony. Allegheny County is also home to the Andy Warhol Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and the Carnegie Science Center.
Allegheny County has numerous major shopping centers spread throughout it, so regardless of your location, you will be able to find the perfect wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, and other necessities on your wedding checklist. The Galleria of Mt. Lebanon, Century III Mall in West Mifflin, Monroeville Mall, The Waterfront in Homestead, and South Hills Village in Bethel Park are all popular shopping centers.
While doing your wedding planning, remember to save time to go to the Allegheny County Clerk's Office in Pittsburgh to obtain your marriage license at least two or three weeks before your wedding day.
