Berks County is a historic area featuring world-class wineries, scenic parks, and plenty of museums, which makes it a popular place for tourists to visit and a charming region for destination weddings.

Major cities and boroughs in Berks County include the county seat of Reading, Bernville, Strausstown, New Morgan, Mount Penn, Leesport, St. Lawrence, Shoemakersville, and Lyons.

Due to its rich Pennsylvania Dutch heritage, Berks County has plenty of unique specialty stores, antique shops, and farmers' markets. However, there are also some traditional shopping centers, so you will be able to easily find everything on your wedding checklist.

Major shopping venues include Fairgrounds Square Mall, Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing, VF Outlet Center, Antietam Valley Shopping Center, Shelbourne Square, Renninger's Antiques & Farmer's Market, and Oley Valley Antique Enterprises, just to name a few.

Berks County has a wide variety of wedding venues for you to consider, from historic hotels to contemporary event centers. Some popular venues include The Abraham Lincoln, Stokesay Castle, and the Stirling Guest Hotel.

Also, if you're planning on having your wedding during the warmer spring or summer months, keep in mind that the Berks County Parks & Recreation Department maintains several facilities that you can reserve for special occasions by contacting Sue Ernst, its Special Events Coordinator.

Popular parks for weddings in Berks County include Berks Leisure Area, the Heritage Center, Gring's Mill, Hunsicker's Grove, Red Bridge, and Kaercher Creek Park in Hamburg.

Berks County hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, so while you're in the area, make sure you take a break from the wedding planning process to have some fun. Major celebrations include Berks Jazz Fest in Reading, the Kutztown Folk Festival, the Taste of Hamburger Festival in Hamburg, and the Berks Salsa Fest.

You can also visit some of the county's historic sites, such as the Conrad Weiser Homestead or the Daniel Boone Homestead, tour major museums, such as the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, or see an exhibit at The Yocum Institute for Arts Education.
