Montgomery County

Montgomery County, which is the third most populous county in Pennsylvania, is a great place for a wedding if you are a nature lover, as it has approximately 60 miles of regional county trails where you can go hiking, biking, or horseback riding.

The county also owns over 6,000 acres of open parkland, five historic sites, and was named the "9th Best Place to Raise a Family" by Forbes in 2008.

The trails connect with many local path systems and offer plenty of scenic vistas, natural landscapes, and diverse terrains that are perfect backdrops for engagement or wedding photographs. Make sure you check out Schuylkill River Greenway as a possible photograph location and for all the recreational activities that it has to offer.

Even though Montgomery County has approximately 205 sunny days annually, keep in mind that summers can be hot and humid, with an average temperature of 86.5 degrees Fahrenheit in July, and the winters can be extremely cold, with an average low of 21.3 degrees Fahrenheit in January; so plan your outdoor activities and wardrobe accordingly.

Montgomery County's seat, Norristown, also provides unique resources that can help you with the wedding planning process. If you are looking for a wedding caterer, there is a wide range of options available in this diverse community. Make sure you check out Marshall Street if you enjoy authentic Latin American cuisine.

Norristown also has a developed arts community and is home to Iron Age Theatre, The Center Theatre, Theatre Horizon, and Norristown Arts Hill, which is an eclectic and progressive artists' community.

Montgomery County is considered a suburban county and is located northwest of the consolidated city-county of Philadelphia. When you are shopping for wedding supplies and most importantly, your bridal gown, it is worth your time to go shopping in nearby Philadelphia, since it offers tax-free shopping. Make sure you check out the East Coast's largest shopping mall, King of Prussia Mall, and the upscale shops on Rittenhouse Row.
