Rhode Island

Rhode Island may be the smallest of the United States,  but its natural beauty and many historic wedding venues make it a very popular location for destination weddings.  From the cozy tree-lined streets of Bristol to the beautiful mansions and yacht harbors in Newport Island, Rhode Island has much to offer the couple looking for a perfect destination wedding location.

One of the most visited places in Rhode Island, Slater Mill which lies on the banks of the Blackstone River in Pawtucket Village is one of the most popular venues for weddings and other grand events as well.  As a National Historic Landmark, the mill sees over 30,000 visitors per  year and boasts its own museum as well as gorgeous grounds that would make a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photographs.

Another amazing location for a wedding is the Providence Biltmore.  Even after close to a century, the Biltmore has managed to sustain its beauty and charm and now holds a place on the National Preservation Register for historic hotels.  It is a key venue for weddings, meetings and other major events year round.

While in Rhode Island you will want to take advantage of the numerous sites to see and things to do throughout the state.  One place that should be a must on your list of places to visit is Newport Vineyards.  Not only can you take a tour and participate in a wine tasting, the winery is also available to host rehearsal dinners as well.

Of course, you can't visit Rhode Island without visiting one of its lighthouses.  The Southeast Lighthouse which sits atop the Mohegan Bluffs is available to tour during July and August.  If you are up to climbing a good a amount of stairs, there is a chain of stairs built into the side of the bluffs which leads to the beach.  If you have the stamina, the hike to the beach is well worth the effort.
