Bexar County

Bexar County is a county that is located in the state of Texas with a population of roughly 1,720,000 residents which makes it the 19th most populated county in the United States.  The county seat of Bexar County is San Antonio.  

Bexar County is located 140 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and around 190 mile west of Houston.  It has an area of 1,257 square miles, most of which is land.  Only 10 square miles is covered by water.

On December 20, 1836 Bexar County was created.  At the time, it encompassed just about the entire portion of the Republic of Texas.  However, after Texas became a state in 1861, 128 counties were carved out of the original Bexar County.  

Many couples plan destination weddings to Texas and Bexar County in particular. There are many wonderful venues in the county to choose from.  One such venue is the Historic Sunset Station in San Antonio.  It is one of the largest historic venues in San Antonio and has many areas to host your wedding ceremony and reception along with making a beautiful backdrop for all your wedding photos.

When planning your wedding in Bexar County, it is a good idea to keep the weather in mind.  The highest rainfall generally occurs in May and September and the summers can be very hot and humid.  However, on average, there are 224 sunny days per year in Bexar County which makes it an excellent location for an outdoor wedding.
