Richardson is a city located in Dallas County, Texas. This affluent city covers an area of 28.6 square miles and it borders Garland to the Southeast, Sachse to the East, East Plano to the North, West Plano to the Northwest and North Dallas to the Southwest.

The city of Richardson is named after railroad contractor E.H Richardson. With its small town beginnings, it was the opening of the Red Brick road (presently Greenville Avenue) in 1924 that increased population growth. The growth and development of the city grew after World War II.

Currently, it has a high concentration of telecommunications companies and big companies such as Ericsson, AT&T and Verizon just to name a few. Richardson has been consistently ranked as one of the best places in the US to live and raise a family. It has a good economy which has seen its credit rating upgraded from AA+ to AAA and has won many economic awards.

There are several notable people from Richardson, and they include wrestler Shawn Michaels, entertainer Jessica Simpson and 7^th Heaven actor Barry Watson just to name a few.
