Galveston County, Texas, which is located in the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area, is a popular place for destination weddings, as it has some beautiful beaches and warm weather throughout the year.

Major cities and communities in Galveston County include Galveston, which is the county seat, League City, Bayou Vista, Clear Lake Shores, Santa Fe, Texas City, Jamaica Beach, Hitchcock, La Marque, and Tiki Island.

Many of the beaches in the city of Galveston are available for weddings, but if your group is 75 or more, you must get a permit through The Galveston Park Board of Trustees.

Major area beaches include Palm Beach at Moody Gardens, Galveston Island State Park, Stewart Beach, East Beach, and Sand Castle Beach Pocket Park.

Galveston County also has plenty of parkland where you can take engagement and wedding photographs, have outdoor ceremonies, or enjoy outdoor recreation activities such as hiking, picnicking, bird watching, and biking.

Make sure you check out Armand Bayou Nature Center, Fort Travis Seashore Park, Fort Crockett Seawall Park, Ray Holbrook Park, Gregory Park, Jack Brooks Park, and Paul Hopkins Park.

Galveston County has plenty of shopping venues, from traditional shopping malls to specialty boutiques and antique shops, so you will be able to easily find everything on your wedding checklist.

Some popular places to shop include the historic district in League City, Mall of the Mainland, Baybrook Mall, Bay Colony Towne Center, Victory Lakes Towne Center, and the Historic Downtown Strand District in Galveston.

Since Galveston County has so many things for you to enjoy, make sure you save at least a few days to explore the area. To start, you can visit historic sites, like the Railroad Section House or the Magnolia Creek Cemetery, see a show at The Grand 1894 Opera House, ride the Galveston Island Ferry, or spend a day at the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier.
