Utah County, which is named for the Ute Native Americans, has some great resources to help you with the wedding planning process. If you are especially interested in pioneer lore and Native American culture, the region might be the perfect place for your destination wedding.
Major cities in Utah County include the county seat of Provo, Alpine, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Salem, Saratoga Springs, Springville, Woodland Hills, Santaquin, Elk Ridge, and Lehi.
Utah County is home to many parks and several nationally protected areas, including Timpanogos Cave National Monument, Spanish Fork River Park, and parts of Ashley National Forest, Manti-La Sal National Forest, and Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
Many of Utah County's parks are available as wedding venues, as long as you obtain a permit from Utah County Public Works. You can also rent the county-owned Historic County Courthouse or the Administration Building in Provo.
The area also has some other wedding venues for you to consider such as Thanksgiving Point, which has 55 acres of themed gardens featuring Italian fountains, waterfalls, and thousands of flowers.
Utah County is home several major shopping centers and has plenty of boutiques and specialty shops, so you will be able to easily find everything on your wedding checklist.
Popular shopping venues include Outlets at Traverse Mountain, Provo Towne Centre, The Meadows in American Fork, University Mall in Orem, the boutiques in Historic Downtown Provo, Lake City Antiques, and Mondernly Vintage Boutique, which carries products from 48 different vendors.
While Utah County is just 35 minutes south of Salt Lake City, it has plenty of attractions of its own for you to enjoy during your free time.
To start, you can see a show at Payson Community Theater or SCERA Center for the Arts, tour Camp Floyd/Stagecoach Inn State Park and Museum, the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, or Crandall Historical Printing Museum, or take a scenic drive along Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway.
