Virginia Beach City

The city of Virginia Beach, which is considered part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, is a premier location for destination weddings, as it is a resort city with miles of beautiful beaches, luxury hotels, and world-class oceanfront dining.

Virginia Beach is separated into many distinct neighborhoods and communities, including Alexandria, Arrowhead, Bayside, Croatan Beach, Glenwood, Lago Mar, Chesapeake Beach, Pembroke Manor, and Windsor Woods, just to name a few.

The city is served by Hampton Roads Transit (HRT), which also provides services to the nearby cities of Chesapeake, Hampton, Norfolk, Newport News, Portsmouth, and Suffolk, so you and your wedding guests will be able to easily navigate the area.

Virginia Beach has a large selection of wedding venues and accommodations for any budget, as it has approximately 12,000 hotel rooms throughout the city.

Popular venues in Virginia Beach include Alexander's on the Bay, which has been hosting beach weddings for over 25 years, Barclay Towers Resort Hotel, Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront, First Landing State Park, and the Chesapeake Bay Center.

Keep in mind that Virginia Beach is committed to eco-friendly practices, and its businesses voluntarily comply with the guidelines of the Commonwealth's Virginia Green program, so there are plenty of resources available to help you plan green weddings.

Virginia Beach has a variety of shopping venues, so you will be able to easily find everything on your wedding checklist. Make sure you check out Lynnhaven Mall, which is one of the largest malls on the East Coast, The Town Center of Virginia Beach, Pembroke Mall, and The Shops at Hilltop.

If you need a break from the beaches, Virginia Beach has plenty of other activities and attractions for you to enjoy.

To start, you can take the Oceana Naval Air Station Tour, see the King Neptune Statue, go golfing at one of the city's numerous golf courses, such as Bow Creek Golf Course or Red Wing Lake Golf Course, or attend one of the annual festivals, such as the She Crab Soup Classic.
