North Las Vegas City, which sits in Las Vegas Valley, is located in Clark County. The city is 78.5 square miles and was incorporated on May 16, 1946.

The area was first settled by the Conrad Kiel family in the 1860's. Tom Williams, a settler from Utah, founded the city in 1917 with the idea that its residents should "live and let live". North Las Vegas is one of the driest cities in the United States, with very hot summers and temperatures below freezing in the winter.

The city is home to North Las Vegas Airport, which has an airline that offers tours of the Grand Canyon. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is on the border between North Las Vegas and Las Vegas.
