Henderson is a city in Clark County, Nevada. It is within the Las Vegas Metropolitan area and covers an area of about 94.5 square miles. It is also the second largest city in Nevada.

Henderson emerged as a township in the 1940s, during World War II during which time it supplied magnesium which was the only thing it was known for. When the war was over, there was uncertainty about its future. It was saved from becoming war surplus property by the Nevada Legislature which approved a bill giving the Colorado River Commission of Nevada the authority to purchase the industrial plants.

From there, it steadily grew to the present developed city it is. It has been ranked by Money Magazine as 20^th in the top 100 places to live in America. In addition, Prevention Magazine also ranked it 6^th best walking city in the US.

It has been featured in movies such as America’s Sweethearts starring Julia Roberts and Diamonds Are Forever starring James Bond. There are several notable people from Henderson and they include Austin Russell of History Channel’s Pawn Stars, Wal-Mart co founder James Walton’s daughter Nancy Walton Laurie and rapper Flavor Flav.
