Located only 6 miles from Boston, Watertown is a quite, historical community with elegant wedding venues to choose from, and plenty of site-seeing for you and your wedding guests to enjoy. The Charles River, which runs through Watertown, was originally named "The Massachusetts" by explorer John Smith.

The Commander's Mansion is a historical site that is currently used as a wedding venue. You can have a garden wedding ceremony on the Victorian-style veranda before moving inside for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The mansion can accommodate up to 150 guests. 

Watertown is also home to the Thaxter House, the Browne House, Mount Auburn Cemetery, the Rodman Mansion, and Perkins School for the Blind, which was the first school for the blind in the nation.

If you are planning a larger wedding, The Sons of Italy Function Hall, which features a dance floor, a stage, and a private bar can host up to 275 guests.

Remember that Watertown is usually very cold in the winter, with an average temperature in January of 29.9 degrees Fahrenheit. With typically rainy springs, summer is the best season for outdoor weddings and photographs.
