Melrose is a city that is located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. The city of Melrose is located approximately 7 miles to the North of Boston and covers an area of about 4.8 square miles. Melrose borders Malden to the South, Wakefield to the North, Stoneham to the West as well as Saugus to the East.

This area was first settled in 1628 and was incorporated in 1900. The city was once part of Malden and Charlestown, and was mainly populated by people who worked in Boston but wanted to live in a country atmosphere. It was known for having many ponds and streams.

There are several notable people that hail from or live in Melrose. They include professional soccer player Ryan Johnson, retired ice hockey professional player Keith Tkachuk as well as painter Will Cotton.
