Jacinto City is a city located in Harris County, Texas with a population of approximately 10, 500 residents.  It has a total area of only 1.9 square miles.   

The city is located in central Harris County along the Missouri Pacific Railroad.  It is very close to the San Jacinto Battleground and derives its name from the battleground.  

In 1941 a subdivision was established by Frank Sharp.  The area was filled by shipyard workers and workers from the nearby war plants and steel mills.  Jacinto City was incorporated in 1947 and had approximately 3,800 residents at the time.  Because of its incorporation, Houston did not incorporate Jacinto City into its city limits.  The 1950's and 1960 saw an increase in population to approximately 11,500 people.  At that time the city had 17 churches, 2 schools and one of each, a hospital, bank and library.  However, by 1990 the population had dwindled to 9,343 residents.
