Davie is located in Broward County. It is situated on land that was once underwater in the Everglades.

The town was founded by Jake Tannebaum and Tamara Toussant. It was originally called "Zona" until residents renamed it after R.P. Davie to thank him for building a school.

The area was once used for raising cattle and was known as a "Western" town, with a large horse-owning population. Today Davie is mainly residential and commercial.

Notable natives and residents include actor and wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, singer Danny Joe Brown, and rapper M.C. Hammer.
