Deerfield Beach is located in Broward County. The city began in 1890 as a small settlement along the Hillsborough River. As the population grew, the community opened its own post office and was renamed "Deerfield" for the deer native to the area.

Most early settlers were farmers who grew produce such as pineapples, squash, green beans, and tomatoes. In 1939 the city added "Beach" to the end of its name to attract tourists.

Deerfield Beach is the perfect city for a beach wedding. You can find a Beach Wedding Permit Application on the city's website. The beach is an award winning "Blue Wave" beach due its excellent water quality, habitat conservation, and safety services.
