Livermore is a city that is located in Alameda County, California. The city covers a total are of approximately 25.2 square miles and it is located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Livermore was founded by William Mendenhall who named the city after his friend Robert Livermore. The city was established in 1869 and only took 7 years to be incorporated in 1876. It also has the unique distinction of having its name in the periodic table (livermorium) as a result of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

The third wealthiest mid-sized city in America, Livermore also has another unique thing going for it. It has the world’s longest lasting light bulb, which has been in use since 1901. Livermore is home to two DOE National Laboratories which are known worldwide and carry out scientific research and help in the development of the US nuclear arsenal.
